Peter Anthony   &      Margaret Martinez Anthony

PETER ANTHONY:
Peter is the owner of Spotlight Dance Center, Spotlight Entertainment and Spotlight Dance Agency of Orlando, FL Spotlight Gymnastics Inc.  He is a graduate of New World School of The Arts in Miami, Florida with a BFA in Dance.  Peter has been dancing for over twenty two years.  His dance credits include: Fredick Bratcher Company; Anything Goes, Evita, Matador,  "Star Street" - Caesar's Palace, Lake Tahoe; as well as various Concert Tours, Televsion Commericals and Music Video's. In 1994 Peter joined the Walt Disney World company at Disney-MGM Studio's in Orlando, FL as cast member and dance captain for "Beauty & The Beast". In 1996 Peter retired from Disney to focus all of his attention on his growing production company and dance studio.

Peter has been choreographing and producing shows for Television, Conventions and Industrials, and for the Stage for the past fourteen years, including the international TV Show "Charytin International" and "Next Big Star".  Through Spotlight Entertainment, Peter has provided dancers and choreographed productions numbers for Universal Studios, Florida, Universal Studios, Hollywood, as well as, IBM, Alta Vista, Mass Mutual Insurance, Hewlett Packard, Mercury Dealers, Burdines, Best Buy, Matrix Hair, GoldWell, Converse, Autozone, Smith Kline Beechum, and Meeting Planners International just to name a few. 

As a Choreographer/Entertainment Producer, Peter is responsible for the creation of quality entertainment.  In his position as Producer and Spotlight owner he has the opportunity of interacting with both large and small corporations.  He is involved in the creation of show concepts, choreography, and final show production. 

Most recently, Peter has been choreographing a new kids show Gina D's Kids Club airing on PAX channel.  His previous projects include choreographing another kid's television show at
Disney-MGM Studios entitled "Dooley and Pals" which aired on PBS in May of 2000 in 
Orlando.  Peter Also has choreographed for up and coming rap and pop groups such as Triple Deep;  Phase 3 and Erica Riveraas well as a CD release concert for Triple Deep at HardRock Peter is currently producing his own Instructional "Hip Hop" video's for kids and adults. Video's  are now available.

As owner of Spotlight Dance Center, Peter is highly involved in the instruction and training of both children and adults in the area of Video Hip Hop and Jazz.  Peter's electric personality motivates and inspires his students.  Peter has also opened Orlando's first official dance agency, Spotlight Dance Agency, which has provided work and performance opportunity for many Orlando dancers. 

MARGARITA MARTINEZ ANTHONY: 
Owner & Ballet Mistress of Spotlight Dance Center...
Born in San Jose California, Margarita began her dance training at the age of six in Miami, FL at the Miami Conservatory studying with Thomas Armour, Bob Pike, and Martha Mahr. Margaret became a member of the Miami Ballet Company before leaving home and family for New York at the age of 15 to attend the High School of Performing Arts. While living in New York, she trained with the Joffery Ballet on full scholorship as well as American Ballet Theater, and Ballet Hispanico.  Upon graduation Margaret joined Ballet Company “Fundation Teresa Carreno” in Caracas, Venezuela touring for over two years in South America.  Returning to Miami, Margaret attended New World School of the Arts and continued to perform professionally with a variety of ballet, jazz and Musical Theater Companies including the Miami Opera and the Hirshfeld Theater. Other credits include various commercials, television shows, variety shows, and movies including “Miami Rhapsody” and “Fame.” 

In 1994 Margaret joined the cast of  “Beauty and The Beast” at the MGM Studio’s, Orlando, FL.  Later she joined the cast of “Pocahontas” where she served as performer and dance captain. 

Margaret and husband Peter Anthony opened Spotlight Dance Center in 1996. Margaret has been teaching classical ballet, her first love, for over twenty years.  Apart from teaching, Margaret if a full time mom with two lovely children, Joshua and Sophia Anthony.
OUR MISSION:
To provide positive quality instruction in an excellent environment for both children and adults, ages 3 and up.  Our school is structured to encourage all dancers to reach their potential through positive reinforcement and disciple whether their desire is to become a professional dancer or simply to learn the art of dance for the sheer appreciation and love of it.  As parents themselves, Peter and Margaret understand the need to constantly encourage all students and to instill in each child the notion that "all things are possible if you believe and try".

     We offer classes for children beginning at the age of three as well as a full range of classes for adults.  Spotlight prides itself in the selection of professional teachers on staff and the positive atmosphere instilled at the school.  Select from a wide range of classes all that are held in large mirrored studios constructed with raised wooden flooring. 
     Spotlight Dance Center opened its doors in January of 1996 with one dance studio and four teachers.  Now in its seventh season, the dance center has expanded to include five large studios, over thirteen professional teachers, Spotlight Entertainment Company and Spotlight Talent Agency. 
     Its founders, Peter and Margaret Anthony both have extensive training and performance backgrounds including several years at Disney as dance captains for the Beauty & The Beast show and the Spirit of Pocahontas at the MGM studios.  It is their love for the art of dance that inspired them to open Spotlight Dance Center.  Margaret Anthony has been teaching ballet for over 25 years and thrives on the opportunity to teach ballet and pass the techniques taught her by her legendary teacher Thomas Armor of the Miami Conservatory.   Peter Anthony teaches a strong jazz and hip-hop technique. With a BFA from the New World School of the Arts in Miami, Florida, Peters professionalism is derived from years of training, performing, acting, teaching, choreographing, and producing.  His credits include several motion picture and television appearances, choreographer of an international television show in Miami, Florida, convention production and talent agent to name a few.  Peter also choreographed the “Dooley” show; a children's television series filmed out of the MGM studios. 
     Not limiting themselves to teaching, Spotlight Dance Center expanded its doors to include Spotlight Entertainment previously known as Anthony Productions, and Spotlight Dance Agency.   The combination of all three Spotlight companies uniquely equips our students with all the tools necessary to pursue a career in entertainment if so desired.

Auditions

In February of 1999, Spotlight Entertainment added a new and exciting component to its successful package.  The Spotlight Dance Agency is Orlando's only dance agency.  It will represent theatrically trained dancers, who have trained in various styles, from across the country.  In addition to dancers, Spotlight Dance Agency will also represent actors, singers, models, specialty acts, stilt walkers, groups and various interactive performers.

Spotlight Dance Agency's target market will be the live audiences of conventions, business theater, corporate parties, casinos, and cruise lines as well as the commercial and film markets.  The following is a list of some of our specific areas of expertise:
