All performers should change out of costume and into street clothes immediately after the performances. No one should be playing or walking around in company costumes. Costumes must last for the whole years, throughout our many performances, competitions and recital. Costumes cannot be reordered if ruined. When washing company costumes, please real all labels carefully! Most costumes can be hand washed in cold water, separately. Proper care of all costumes is a must, as costumes will be worn through out the year, in the June recital and possibly in the competition finals. Each company member needs to have a makeup kit available in the studio store including: eyeliner, mascara, eye shimmer, eye glitter, base, lipstick, blush, face powder & applicators. Just as costumes help to unify the dancers, having all the same make-up colors will assist in the company uniformity and professionalism. Kits are available in the store. Make-up must be worn properly to all performances including blue eye shadow, especially in competition. Reminder: Though students don’t enjoy applying performance make-up, learning how to apply performance make-up takes time and is a large part of being a professional performer. Black Hip Hop Sneakers are required as part of the costume for all hip-hop company members! Again, please take proper care of these shoes, as they are a part of the overall look of your costume & have your name in them! For consistency, company sneakers must be bought at the studio store. Remember that even shoes are judged competitions. Personalized dance bags and/or garment bags are strongly suggested. Whenever performing, leave all personal items such as jewelry and headsets at home. Clothing, jackets, shoes and costume pieces should be placed inside your bag immediately when performing so that nothing gets lost or stolen. We often share dressing rooms with other performers, so organization of costumes and personal items is very important. Spotlight Dance Center is not responsible for lost or stolen items left or taken at any performance, or competition site, so bring only what you need and place things immediately in your labeled bags. Remember, when at a Spotlight event, you & your actions are representing Spotlight Dance Center. Please remember to conduct your self in a positive, respectable and proper manner at all times. If rehearsing on site, please pay attention to your choreographer, listen attentively and watch your attitudes and language. Finally, local performance opportunities are designed to help you the student become better performers and dancers and begin experiencing what it is to be a professional dancer/performer. We hope to achieve this by providing you with these performances, competitions and conventions, as well as leave you with great memories of performing for your community and having fun dancing with your company members. Blessings and “Break a Leg”… PARENTS… If you are a PTA member &/or know of performance possibilities Spotlight can attend, please advise Peter or Margaret so we can look into the event. School event, and local charity events are a great environment to have the kids perform and your assistance in finding performance is greatly appreciated.
